Experience Growth in the Great Outdoors

Here at The Urban Orchard, we nurture young minds through hands-on, nature-based, child-centered experiences that inspire curiosity and foster independence and early development in a vibrant outdoor setting.

Who We Are

The Urban Orchard Outdoor Adventure Program is comprised of a handful of local parents that want to bring more nature into the hands of our children.

LGBTQ+ and BIPOC owned and operated!

Our Mission

It is most important to instill a sense of stewardship of the land in our youth. We aspire to foster curiosity and connection within our community. Our programming helps build independence and confidence by challenging children to see things from multiple perspectives and giving them opportunities to try new and exciting activities. Through child-led interactions, we sponsor the innate desire children have to learn and teach many important life skills.

Nature-Based Curriculum

Our curriculum immerses children in hands-on outdoor experiences to inspire lifelong learning.

Seasonal Outdoor Workshops

Workshops designed to connect children with the changing environment and natural cycles.

Orchard vs. Adventure

Orchard days will be here, on the property:
301 Dennis St Tumwater, WA 98501 and will include many activities such as but not limited to: arts and crafts (beading, rock painting, stick braiding, and more), foraging and fire building, cooking, and meal prep, tending to gardens and farm animals, sewing, knitting, candle-making, homemade playdough, journaling, homesteading and breadmaking, learning survival skills and first aid, etc.
Adventure days will include field trips off site at a predetermined location and are exceptionally fun and exciting for the children as they get to explore a new (or familiar) park or trail. They will partake in plant identification, weather and nature observations, park play, and mindfulness.

Immersive Nature Play

Children engage freely with natural surroundings, fostering creativity and physical development.

Experiential Learning Activities

Our programs encourage active discovery, allowing kids to learn by doing in real-world environments.

Small Group Community

Personalized attention in intimate groups builds social skills and a strong sense of belonging.

Certified Outdoor Educators

Our skilled teachers guide each child’s journey with expertise in outdoor and early childhood education.

Odds and Ends

A light snack will be provided for your child during programming
but we welcome you to pack a more substantial snack or sack lunch
for your child as they are often famished after a long session of
outdoor play and structured activity. Each child is required to have a
reusable water bottle in their possession upon drop off. If a child
does not have one, we will provide them with one for a fee of $5 that
will be added to the next month’s invoice.

Tardiness in drop off and pick up is disruptive to programming and
makes for difficult transitions for your children. Please arrive no
more than 15 mins past your scheduled programming start time and
no later than five minutes past the end of your scheduled
programming. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
